Testing, Testing…

Back to the testing grounds with a new pinhole camera at the State Capitol. This time doing some interior shots to try and prep for my upcoming trip to Istanbul. I normally don’t do a lot of interior photography because of the long exposures, but Istanbul will have a lot of opportunities inside some of the ancient buildings. Here’s some with a super wide 2 1/4 pinhole camera I found online made in France…  https://aupremierplan.fr/custom-cameras/realitysosubtle-6×6/ I’m pretty happy with the first results, looks like a great camera.

Pinhole Point and Shoot

Here’s my new pinhole camera I made for our upcoming trip to Istanbul. I wanted something that would be light and easy to carry and can be used on a small tripod, so I converted an old Agfa 120 film camera into a pinhole. Sort of a point and shoot pinhole that can use roll film to save space. I took it out to my usually testing grounds, the capitol building to put the first roll through it. It works pretty good, although has a few light leak issues I need to take care of. Seems like that is always the case when making your own camera. Here’s a couple of the first shots.

A fun new subject matter- Antique Shops!

Now that it’s snowy and cold out and hard to do my “Around Madtown” shooting outside I’ve adapted to a new indoor subject matter. Nazan and I have always enjoyed going to antique shops, but without much money or room in the house we haven’t gone in a long time. Well, we’ve been having a lot of fun spending Saturday afternoons out checking out antique shops around Southern Wisconsin and practicing some creative photography in the process.

These are digital of course, no pinholes  here. But it’s nice to just shoot for the fun of it once in a while too and enjoy the ease of digital.

To see more check out my Instagram feed.

Nazan has been taking some awesome photos too. She’s always been great at taking detail photos. Here’s her Instagram feed.

One-On-One Photography Tutoring

Monona Terrace Sky

New in 2016- Photography Tutoring

My photography tutoring is a great opportunity for those who want to learn more about their DSLR camera, a point and shoot or even a cell phone camera. Lessons include both the technical aspects as well as the creative side. Receive one on one instruction with Cameron, a national award winning photographer. Each session can be custom tailored to your personal needs. A typical class involves meeting at a coffee shop for instruction and to answer your questions, followed by on location shooting with Cameron. Then finishing up with a review of your photos.

I’ve Joined Instagram!

Photography, just for sake of Photography… That’s the approach I’m taking with my Instagram photos. Often, the more creative you try and get with your photography the lower your sales are. Unfortunately I know this fact too well. Over the years now I feel like I have developed this little voice inside that keeps telling me “Don’t shoot that photo, NOBODY is every going to buy that.” So Instagram is a great outlet for those photos that “I” like, but would never bother printing or attempting to sell. I’m getting rid of that voice and taking photos just for the fun of it again. I’m calling this body of work “Around Madtown”.

It’s also an excuse to explore new subject matter with my photography. Check out my Instagram Feed!

Here’s a few examples from recent trips to area antique malls, a favorite wintertime Saturday activity…
